Bowlegs

BOW LEGS:  Bow legs implies that the knees are pointing away from the center of the body.  Many young children normally have bow legs that correct around the age of 2.  This is referred to as physiologic bow legs.  However, in young children, there are two main circumstances in which bow legs do not correct – infantile Blount’s disease and rickets.   Both of these problems can be diagnosed with an x-ray, and therefore, it is important if your child has not corrected her bow legs by the age of 2 to have her evaluated.
