| Fractures are common occurrences in children. In fact, 42% of all boys and 27% of all girls will sustain at least one fracture by the time they reach the age of sixteen. The primary difference between bones in children and adolescents compared to adult bones can be summarized in one word - growth. While adults need to heal fractures and return to normal function, children need to heal bones to grow and develop normally. In many ways, pediatric fractures require different treatment than adults.
